Changes to the ticket/rebooking
Unfortunately it is not possible to make changes to the ticket. So if you made a mistake when booking with the traveller's name or date, we cannot rewrite your ticket. However, if the conditions of your ticket allow it, you can rebook the ticket, i.e. cancel it (see also here) and then rebook it. We are bound by the fare regulations of Deutsche Bahn in the case of changes and cancellations and cannot make any exceptions.
You can see whether your ticket allows an exchange or a refund in the grey box of your ticket.
Sparpreis tickets
Sparpreis tickets from Deutsche Bahn can be booked 180 days in advance (as long as stocks last) and are train bound in long-distance traffic, i.e. you may only take the connection that appears on your ticket. This does not apply to local trains. These tickets are refundable up to one day before the first day of validity. fromAtoB itself does not charge any fees. From the first day of validity an exchange/refund is no longer possible.
Seat reservations are excluded from exchange and cannot be refunded!
Please note: For Sparpreis- and Sparpreis-Europa-Tickets sold from August 1st, 2018, other cancellation conditions apply. Refunds are only possible against the issue of a voucher. Deutsche Bahn charges a cancellation fee of 10€ per ticket. Payment to the original means of payment is no longer possible here.
After successful cancellation, Deutsche Bahn will send you a cancellation voucher with a seven-digit code by e-mail. This voucher can be redeemed on bahn.de, at a DB machine, in a DB travel centre, in a DB agency.
Unfortunately, this is not possible on our websites. The new DB cancellation voucher is valid for three years.
Super Sparpreis tickets
These tickets are train bound and do not allow for exchanges or refunds. They can be booked 6 months in advance (while stocks last) and are also valid on local trains in the pre- and/or on-carriage. The City-Ticket option cannot be booked for Super-Sparpreis tickets.
Flexpreis Tickets
As the name suggests, Flexpreis tickets from Deutsche Bahn offer you full flexibility. Although you choose a connection on booking, you can decide on the day of validity whether you would prefer to choose another (equivalent) connection after all. This ticket is refundable free of charge until one day before the first day of validity, from the first day of validity Deutsche Bahn charges a cancellation fee of 19€ (long-distance traffic) per ticket.
Ländertickets
Deutsche Bahn Ländertickets cannot be cancelled or modifed.
Seat reservations
When booking Deutsche Bahn tickets, you can book a seat in our booking process under "Seat reservation" for 4.00 Euro per person and pass by ticking the box to the right.
Seat reservation is free for 1st class tickets of Deutsche Bahn and the check mark "Seat reservation" is already pre-selected. Please note that children in 1st class do not receive a free seat, so please book a separate seat for your child.
Please note that seat reservations cannot be cancelled. If you are not satisfied with the seats you have been allocated, you are welcome to exchange them on the Deutsche Bahn website or via the DB Navigator App.
Here is where you get to the website of Deutsche Bahn.
Specify your seat preferences
You want to sit in a closed compartment by the window? Or would you prefer a seat with a table in the large compartment? You can specify your preferences when making your booking. To do so, go to the "Overview" page on "Reserve a seat", and then click on the "Change" button next to the "Seat Preferences".
Deutsche Bahn makes every effort to take your wishes into account. However, we cannot guarantee that all your preferences will be implemented.
BahnCard
Please indicate that you have a BahnCard at the beginning of the booking funnel. You can do this by clicking on "Traveller" on our homepage and selecting the correct discount card. This is the only way to adjust the prices in the search results! As soon as you have selected your desired connection and entered your personal data, no new price calculation will take place.
Identification on board
Only the name of the main traveller is on your online ticket - during a check you identify yourself with one of the accepted official photo IDs or with the BahnCard (on request also with the photo ID). If several persons travel with one ticket, only the traveler specified by name on the ticket is required to identify himself.
You can choose between different documents for identification:
- German identity card and passport
- all European identity cards
- all international passports
- an electronic residence permit
- the certificate of registration of asylum seekers (BüMA)
- BahnCard (a temporary BahnCard does not count as an identification card)
- children's passport
Driving licences, student cards, troop cards and severely handicapped cards are not accepted.
Travelling with children
With Deutsche Bahn, children accompanied by their parents or grandparents travel free of charge. Children up to and including 5 years of age are not listed on the ticket. Children from 6 up to and including 14 years must be indicated when booking, they are also listed on the ticket.
To add children to your booking, please add the child(ren) as additional passengers. Please don't forget to fill in the children's age.
Travelling with disabilities
Unfortunately it is not yet possible to book the mobility service of Deutsche Bahn via fromAtoB. If you have any questions or suggestions on this topic, please contact our partner directly:
Mobility Service Centre (daily 6-22 h)
Phone: 0180/6512512 (20 ct/call from a landline, tariff for mobile phone max. 60 ct/call)
Fax: 0180/5159357 (14 ct/min. from a landline, mobile rates may vary, max. 42 ct/min)
E-mail: msz@deutschebahn.com
Travelling with pets
Small animals (up to the size of a domestic cat) can be taken free of charge in a transport container. If you want to take along a dog that cannot be transported in a transport container as hand luggage, you pay half the fare for the animal.
Unfortunately, you cannot book the "Dog-Ticket" via fromAtoB, but must book it directly via Deutsch Bahn. Please note that no online or mobile phone ticket can be purchased for dogs.
It should also be possible to buy on site in the train. In this case, however, the board price (plus 7,50€ fee) would apply.
Please note that train operators abroad have their own regulations. Only the provider himself can provide binding information, so please contact the responsible support team directly.
Example:
You have booked a DB ticket for the route Aachen - Avignon (FR) and are travelling a section of the journey with a train from SNCF Voyages (French train operator).
Deutsche Bahn allows small pets to be carried free of charge in the transport container. However, the SNCF does not allow this and charges a fee!
In such a case, please ask the support team of Deutsche Bahn!
Travelling by bike
Deutsche Bahn allows bicycle transport in many long-distance trains. Many local trains are already equipped with multi-purpose compartments for cyclists. However, a bike ticket must be purchased in addition to the ticket. This is an additional booking option that unfortunately cannot yet be carried out via fromAtoB.
