A ticket from Deutsche Bahn allows you to take the train but doesn't guarantee a reserved seat. You can add a seat to your booking by placing a check mark at "seat reservation" in our booking overview. This will cost you €4.50 per leg.
To access booking overview, please click on the green "Price" button to the right of your desired connection.
For 1st class tickets of Deutsche Bahn seat reservations are free of charge and the checkmark at "seat reservation" is already preselected.
Please note that seat reservations can not be canceled.
Deutsche Bahn tickets are personalized and not transferable. During a check by an inspector you have to be able to identify yourself with one of the accepted official photo IDs or with your BahnCard (if requested additionally with the photo ID).
You can choose between different documents for identification:
- German ID card
- German passport
- Electronic residence permit
- Asylum registration confirmation (BüMA),
- European ID card
- International passport
- BahnCard (in accordance with the Conditions of Carriage, valid only in conjunction with a photo ID, which may have to be presented on occasion).
Traveling with children
Children up to and including 5 years travel free of charge. Children from 6 to 14 years that are accompanied by their parents or grandparents also travel for free! Please provide all children traveling with your booking.
To add children to your booking, please click on "Change". At this point, you can add passengers by selecting "Add more passengers".
Online tickets are not available for children traveling on their own, i.e. without parents or grandparents. Please contact DB directly for booking tickets for unaccompanied children.
Traveling with pets
Small animals (up to the size of a domestic cat) can be taken in a transport container free of charge. If you want to bring a dog that can not be transported in a transport container, you pay half price for your pet.
Unfortunately you cannot book "dog tickets" via fromAtoB. They have to be booked directly via Deutsche Bahn. Please note that online or mobile phone tickets can not be purchased for pets.
Traveling with bikes
In many long-distance trains, Deutsche Bahn allows to take bicycles. Many commuter trains are already equipped with multi-purpose compartments for cyclists. However, a bicycle ticket must be purchased in addition to your booking. Please contact DB directly for booking bicycle tickets.
